How to Dress for LA Winter’s

LA winter’s can be…..tricky to dress up for. It could be cloudy and in the 50’s at the beginning of the week and sunny and in the high 80’s by the end. This is to say that LA does not have a traditional winter, and investing in puffy coats and lined boots may not be the greatest idea if you are planning a trip to Southern California.

Because of bipolar weather conditions, it can be confusing to know exactly what needs to be packed, and what can be left at home. Below are a few winter staples that we swear by and look good all year ‘round.

1.) Turtlenecks

Turtlenecks are a great item to have in your closet because they are statement makers and super easy to dress up. For a polished look, you can wear it with a fitted blazer, a nice pair of slacks or jeans, and some standout heels. If you are looking for a more casual outfit, you can’t go wrong pairing your turtleneck with a fun skirt or underneath a casual dress. Turtlenecks are great for any occasion and are versatile to many different styles.

2.) Jumpsuits

If you have been thinking of purchasing a jumpsuit, this is your sign to do so. These are great pieces to invest in because they go with every season and you can bundle up as much or as little with them as you want. Some of our favorite jumpsuits come from Big Bud Press, which is a local store in Los Angeles. We suggest purchasing jumpsuits in neutral colors so that you can accessorize with bright and fun jackets, jewelry, and scarves.

3.) Wide-leg Jeans

This is another clothing item that you should definitely invest in if you haven’t already. Wide-leg jeans have risen in popularity over the years, and now many Angeleno’s are choosing to wear this retro fit instead of their prized skinny jeans. Wide-leg jeans are fashionable in any season and can be dressed up with boots and long blazers when the weather gets cooler.

4.) Blazers

A good blazer never goes out of style. Whether you are going for the more classic look with a fitted, black style or an eccentric moment with a bright colored one, you can never go wrong with wearing a blazer. They also make for great layering pieces, so you can dress as up or down as you would like. Blazer’s look good with any style, so feel free to experiment with your look.

5.) Ankle Boots

These are our go-to shoes anytime of the year. Whether we are wearing them with silk dresses during the summer or with jeans and coats during winter, ankle boots are our favorite shoes to finish off an outfit with. We usually go for the sleek black styles, but encourage you to play around with different colors that suit your fashion taste.
