What We’re Loving at Home

Our homes are our sanctuaries. It’s where the best versions of us are created and where dreams are made into realities. This last year, we were told that staying home would be beneficial, both for the sake of our health and for those around us. Staying safe at home truly meant that we got to fall in love with every aspect of our humble abode all over again. During this time, we felt inspired to create a space so serene and peaceful that when it came time to have people over again, they would relish in the soothing nature of our home. To accomplish this, we delved into new design projects, made safe spaces for our loved ones, and ourselves and truly learned what it means to take care of our souls and us.

We have listed a few of the special at-home activities and products we have used throughout the stay at home orders to hopefully inspire others who are trying to fall in love with their space again. The items and practices listed below are things that have helped us personally, but we encourage you to DM us with what makes your place special and what you do to make it feel like home.

The Art of Self-Care

We believe that self-care is more than just running bubble baths and putting on facemasks, but they do certainly help. While we allow ourselves the time and mental space to partake in self-care, we do use a few products that help us stay calm and collected throughout. We also understand that some of the products we use for self-care practices may not work for you, and that is okay. The beauty about taking time for you is realizing what your mind and body need in order to function. For us personally, these are the products that help us get through stressful days or when we just need an extra moment of relaxation.

Making Fashion Statements at Home

One of the areas we have made the biggest changes to is our closet. While most of us still have pieces we are holding onto for the day we can safely go back outside, others have gone down the comfy rabbit hole of the pandemic fashion world. Lately, we have wanted to stay comfortable while also making bold statements with our outfits, even if we are the only ones seeing them. This forced us to get creative with our WFH outfits and wearing clothes that make us feel cool, confident, and most importantly, cozy. We have seen designer brands also switch their fashion game up to adhere to stay at home orders, and we are here for it. Here are a few bold pieces that we have been obsessing over as of late.

Creating Moments in the Kitchen

I think we can all agree that we have probably picked up a new hobby or two while we have been in quarantine. For us, we have been cooking way more, which means buying fun cookbooks and getting inspired to make creative dishes for future dinner parties. Our kitchen space is now our designated sanctuary not just for cooking, but also for feeling motivated and trying something new. Recently, we have been making dishes from our favorite book, Cook Beautiful, and are incredibly motivated to live a life like Athena Calderone. The way she creates dishes that soothes the soul gets us excited for cooking, and we can honestly say we feel pretty accomplished when we perfect a recipe from her cookbook. Here are a few other staples in our kitchen that we truly cannot get enough of.

Finding Space in the Bedroom

The bedroom is the number one room in our home that has to be 100% us. All the other rooms can have their moments that were inspired by others, but for us, our bedroom is our own unique space and no one can take that away from us. This means that redecorating the room in a way that feels special to us a must, and if there is anything in the room that feels disingenuous to us, we take it out and replace it. The bedroom is truly our safe space from the outside world, and it’s vital to make it feel as comfortable as possible. Here are a few special pieces that we have loved bringing into our space.

Staying Motivated Through it All

Trying to stay positive and happy through the craziness that is life has its difficult moments. We try not to let those hard times define us, but there are times where it is hard to not let certain things get to us. When we are feeling a little run down or un-inspired, we gravitate towards certain objects and people to make us feel better. Personally, I turn to journaling or meditative exercises to help clear my mind. Here are a few apps and journals that we suggest to anyone who is looking for an outlet to breath and be free from life’s stressors.
